Request Class

I can give this "First Responder Training for Motorcyclists" class on request for rider groups, motorcycle dealers and any other interested parties.

  • My speaker's fee for the day-long class is $500.00 plus travel/lodging expenses outside of San Diego County, flat rate. I keep my professional speaker's fee low to help get the info out there, but I also don't want this to turn into a second full-time career.

  • A class is usually one day, all day. They usually start at 9:00am and go until 3:00pm or 4:00pm in the afternoon (depending on how many questions, war stories, etc.) with an hour for lunch.

  • You are free to have as many people attend the class as you can comfortably accommodate. There is no minimum or maximum class size.

  • You may charge the attendees whatever you'd like. Any profits above your costs are yours to keep. For comparison purposes, the average 4-hour CPR class ranges from $25-$50 per person. If you can get 20 people at $25 (or 25 at $20) that's $500 and completely covers my fees. I would certainly look into sponsorship opportunities to cover other expenses as well. If you get 50 people @ $25 apiece that's $1,250.00 and might pay for any other non-donated overhead costs plus a little for the club's kitty. If you can get 100 people and only want to charge $10.00, that's still $1,000 which could still break even, depending on your other expenses.

  • I have no other constraints or requirements for my portion of the class. I'm very flexible and will try to work with you to make your event a success.

  • You don't necessarily need to rent a hall if you can find someone with a space who is interested in hosting. The venue needs chairs for the attendees.

  • This class is good press for any motorcycle dealer if they have the space. I give Gary Orr at San Diego BMW Motorcycles a class every year. Gary provides fresh coffee and donuts beforehand (while everyone is mixing/mingling and ogling the pretty bikes) and has drinks and bottled water for breaks. He even provides free swordfish tacos for lunch! Obviously, you don't need to provide breakfast, snacks or even lunch. You could just suggest nearby places for lunch, though a catered lunch makes it a nice social event as well, especially for a club.

  • You can find all the class handouts on the www.ShinySideDown.com website. You may reproduce them in whatever format and number works for you.

  • If you have a member of your own group that is interested/qualified to teach this class, you're welcome to use the material on this website.

I'd be happy to answer any further questions or work with you on any details.  Ride Well,
